On the 19th of April 2012 Wayne took part in the Kokoda Track Challenge, raising much needed funds for Lifeline Australia.
After 3 months of hard preparation and training, Wayne and 12 others set off to conquer the 110km of single file track snaking through the rugged mountain ranges of the New Guinea Highlands.
With all travel costs covered by the individuals participating on the trek, the team raised over $100K for Lifeline Australia.
Suicide is a leasing cause of death for people under the age of 44 in Australia, most of these are preventable. These funds raised will go towards saving more lives by supporting the 24 hour telephone crisis line where around 1250 calls are received daily.
While challenging and enduring the experience and friendships gained through this experience has been invaluable.
